A woman in Telford has issued a stark warning to others after a terrifying encounter where a stranger followed her while shouting violent threats, including "I wish I could kill you all".
Details of the Wellington incident
The frightening episode occurred on the evening of Saturday, December 20, as the woman was walking back to her car in Wellington. She had finished work at her salon on Wellington High Street and was heading to the 757 car park.
As she passed the Nova Training building on Tan Bank, she noticed a white male who appeared to be homeless sitting on some steps. The man stood up and began shouting abuse at her.
"You f****** women are all the same, I'm gonna kill you! I wish I could f****** kill you all!" the man yelled, according to the victim's account shared on social media later that night.
A frightening pursuit and police response
Fearing for her safety, the woman immediately called her father, who stayed on the phone with her throughout the ordeal. The man then proceeded to follow her up the road towards the car park.
"Luckily, he gave up and left me alone, and I got to my car safely," the woman reported. She has since reported the incident to West Mercia Police, urging them to investigate.
A police spokesperson confirmed: "We received a report of a woman being verbally abused by a man on the evening of Friday (December 19) near Tan Bank in Wellington. Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident." The slight discrepancy in the reported date is being clarified.
Community concern and similar reports
In her online warning, the woman expressed her belief that this was not an isolated incident involving this individual. "I believe it's not the first time an incident like that has occurred from this man," she stated, advising all women in the area to keep their wits about them.
Her post resonated with other local women, several of whom commented to share that they had suffered similar frightening experiences in the same area of Wellington.
The incident has sparked renewed conversations about public safety and street harassment in the community, with the victim encouraging others to share her warning widely.
