Two men from Birmingham are due to appear in court today, Monday, April 27, following a raid in Selly Oak. Simon Niblett, 39, has been charged with five counts of taking from a motor vehicle, fraud, and going equipped. Scott Watts, 43, faces three counts of taking from a motor vehicle and fraud.
The charges stem from an incident on Saturday, April 25, when police officers on patrol in the Weoley Avenue area observed a man running from a vehicle. After a foot chase, officers detained one suspect and discovered several stolen items nearby, along with two screwdrivers.
Further searches at a linked address led to the discovery of a second man hiding under a bed. Both individuals were subsequently taken into custody based on the ongoing investigation.
The pair, both from Birmingham, were scheduled to appear before the city's magistrates court today. The police are urging anyone with information about suspicious activity in the area to contact them on 101 or, in an emergency, to call 999.
