Man, 92, Held on Murder Suspicion After Woman, 87, Dies

A 92-year-old man remains in police custody on suspicion of murder following the death of an 87-year-old woman at a property in Exeter, authorities have confirmed.

Devon and Cornwall Police responded to concerns about the welfare of a woman at an address on Millbrook Lane, believed to be a supported living unit, at approximately 12:40 PM on April 19. Upon arrival, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers. The man arrested in connection with the incident, aged 92, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and remains detained.

Police have stated that the man and the woman were known to each other, and no other individuals are being sought in connection with the death. A cordon that had been set up at the scene has since been lifted.

Investigation Ongoing

Detective Inspector Guy Biggar, leading the investigation, said: "Officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish what happened in this sad case. A police guard that was set up at the scene has since been stood down. It is believed that the man and the woman were known to each other. We are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death and members of the public will still see a heightened police presence in the area, as our enquiries continue."
