Police investigating the disappearance of six-year-old Kyran Durnin have arrested a woman in her 50s as the case is upgraded to a murder probe. The schoolboy was last seen alive in June 2022 and was reported missing in August 2024.
Arrest and Search
Gardai confirmed that the woman is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station in the eastern region. A search warrant is being executed at a home in Drogheda, County Louth. The arrest comes less than two weeks after what would have been Kyran's 10th birthday.
According to sources cited by the Irish Mirror, the woman was known to Kyran. In December 2024, another suspect, 36-year-old Anthony Maguire, was found dead after being arrested in connection with the case.
