Former England footballer and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! star Alex Scott has shared the heartbreaking reason for her abrupt departure from Australia following her eviction from the jungle last week.
The 41-year-old TV presenter was the first campmate voted off the ITV show in 2025, leaving fans puzzled when her partner, pop star Jess Glynne, was not waiting for her at the iconic bridge.
The Emotional Reason Behind the Rush Home
Instead of staying for the series finale and wrap party as is customary, Scott boarded a plane straight back to the UK. It has now emerged this was due to a devastating family crisis.
Scott was desperate to return to Glynne after the singer's mother, Alexandra, suffered a major stroke and required urgent brain surgery. The health emergency unfolded while Scott was in the jungle, creating an incredibly difficult period for the couple.
In an emotional social media statement posted on 2 December 2025, Scott explained her decision. Alongside a photo of herself kissing Glynne, she wrote of her gratitude to ITV for facilitating her swift return, stating: "We have both seen all the love and support and it means the world. The universe spoke and its getting me home asap."
Jess Glynne's Heartfelt Explanation
Jess Glynne, 36, also took to Instagram to clarify her absence from Australia, publicly addressing her mother's serious condition for the first time.
"Over the last few few weeks, my mum suffered a stroke and needed urgent brain surgery," the singer wrote. "It's been a really serious, life-altering time for my family, and I've had to stay close to home." She added that Scott would always want her to be where she was needed most.
Glynne had previously shown her support online, posting a photo wearing a T-shirt featuring Scott's official jungle snap and calling her girlfriend "forever a winner."
Scott's Tribute to Campmates and ITV
Speaking on the I'm A Celeb spin-off show Unpacked with hosts Joel Dommett and Kemi Rodgers, Alex Scott opened up further about the challenging situation.
She revealed that Glynne had initially encouraged her to go on the show, saying "do it for my mum." Scott confessed she almost quit the experience entirely to be with her partner but was urged to stay.
"Straight away, when I walked over [the bridge], I knew then things had got worse," Scott told the interviewers. "She's my Jessica, and I'm going home to be her rock, because she's been my cheerleader all through this."
She also praised her fellow campmates and the ITV team, stating they were aware of her personal struggle and provided immense support throughout her time in the jungle.
The couple's candid revelations have been met with an outpouring of support from fans and the public, highlighting a deeply personal story of family, love, and resilience behind the scenes of the popular reality series.
