The entertainment and local community are in mourning following the tragic deaths of Britain's Got Talent finalist Letitia Cuney, 53, and her partner Cheryl Pierre, 47. The pair lost their lives in a horrific road collision on the A10 near Chittering in Cambridgeshire, just days after Christmas.
A Devastating Collision on the A10
The fatal incident occurred when a silver BMW 520D collided with a white Nissan Qashqai. A 54-year-old man from Haddenham was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drug driving, and possession of class A drugs. He has been released on bail pending further investigations, with a return date set for 27 March.
Tributes to a 'Force of Nature' and a Selfless Mother
In a heartfelt statement, Letitia Cuney's family celebrated her courageous spirit. "Guided by her values and love for her family, she made the courageous decision to move to England with her one-year-old child, despite having never visited the country before," they shared. She built a fulfilling life as a teacher, remembered as an energetic, powerful, and kind-hearted individual who will be sorely missed as a mother, sister, daughter, and friend.
Tributes also flowed for Cheryl Pierre, described by her family as the centre of their world. "She was completely selfless and dedicated her life to her children, always putting them first," the statement read. "She was the centre of our family, bringing everyone together, offering a shoulder to cry on."
From the BGT Stage to a Community Legacy
Letitia was a cherished member of the NSO choir (Northants Sings Out), which captivated the nation during the 2024 series of Britain's Got Talent. The choir performed in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, ultimately reaching the finals.
Under Music Director Gareth Fuller, the choir aimed to change perceptions of community choirs. Following their rendition of Fatboy Slim's 'Praise You', Simon Cowell told them: "I'm gonna praise you - that's what I wanna do. It was again, the best performance you've done." Known for its emphasis on inclusivity and innovation, NSO has enjoyed support from famous figures including Madonna and Chaka Khan.
The sudden loss of Letitia and Cheryl has left a profound void in their families, the choir community, and all who knew them, as police continue their investigation into the tragic crash.
