Strictly's Dianne Buswell 'fuming' as Joe Sugg bins upside-down hanger
Dianne Buswell left fuming over home change before baby

Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has confessed to feeling absolutely devastated after her boyfriend Joe Sugg made a major change to their home ahead of their baby's arrival.

The Upside-Down Hanger Drama

During an appearance on the Winning Isn't Everything podcast with her former Strictly partner Chris McCausland, the Australian dancer revealed the household alteration that left her fuming. Joe had apparently decided to get rid of her upside-down hanger without consultation, leaving Dianne shocked when she went to use it one day.

"Joe got rid of my upside down hanger, Joe got rid of it!" she told Chris McCausland during their candid conversation. "He said he didn't like it in the house. So I don't mention the upside down hanger anymore."

The professional dancer, who is expecting her first child with the YouTuber, managed to find humour in the situation despite her initial disappointment. "I'm just fuming about it," she explained. "It was just up and gone one day, and I went down to hang upside down and I couldn't, I was devastated."

Baby on the Way and Strictly Setbacks

The couple announced their exciting baby news in September via Instagram, sharing a sweet clip showing them painting a family portrait with the caption: "Our little baby boy, we cannot wait to meet you."

Dianne's home drama comes after what has been a mixed year on Strictly Come Dancing. After achieving the ultimate success last year by helping Chris McCausland become the programme's first blind winner, her 2025 journey was cut short when her celebrity partner Stefan Dennis sustained a calf injury that eliminated them during week four of the BBC programme.

The apparatus Joe removed was likely used for inverted hang workouts, which involve suspending oneself upside down from a bar or rings. This type of exercise helps develop core strength, shoulder stability, and grip power.

From Strictly Romance to Growing Family

Joe and Dianne join the lengthy list of Strictly Come Dancing couples who found love on the popular dance show. The pair first met during series 16 of Strictly in 2018, where they danced their way to the final before securing second place.

Although they didn't confirm their romance until after their Strictly journey ended, they've since become one of the show's most beloved couples. In the years following their joint appearance, Dianne has experienced varying degrees of success in the competition before eventually claiming the Glitterball trophy with Chris McCausland in 2024.

Her Strictly record includes:

  • 2019: Finished 13th place with Dev Griffin
  • 2020: Improved to ninth place with Max George
  • 2023: Reached second place with Bobby Brazier
  • 2024: Won the competition with Chris McCausland

Despite her frustration about the missing exercise equipment, Dianne joked that perhaps it's fortunate the hanger has been discarded with their first baby on the way. "Knowing me, I'd get the child and I'd be like, 'just have a go at that. Just see what that does to you. Does that stop you crying?'" she quipped to Chris during their podcast conversation.

Strictly Come Dancing continues to air on BBC One, with the next episode scheduled for November 8 at 6.25pm.
