YouTube sensation Joe Sugg has opened up about the surprising Strictly Come Dancing romance rumours that swirled around him, long before his real-life love story with professional dancer Dianne Buswell began.
The Wrong Strictly Romance
Appearing on The Fellas podcast, Sugg disclosed that during his 2018 stint on the BBC show, speculation linked him to fellow contestant and Steps star, Faye Tozer. He confessed that Tozer had been his childhood favourite from the pop band, a fact that was seized upon by gossipmongers. "I remember I said, I used to fancy Faye," Joe recalled. "They brought that up and tried to make it out like there was already a Strictly curse going on between me and Faye." He was quick to insist, however, that there was no romantic connection whatsoever between him and the pop star.
A Real-Life Fairy Tale
While the public was looking the wrong way, a genuine romance was blossoming between Joe and his dance partner, Dianne Buswell. The couple, who met during the 2018 series, confirmed their relationship after the show's finale and have been together ever since. Their love story is now entering an exciting new chapter, as they are currently expecting their first child together, a baby boy.
Looking to the Future
As they prepare for parenthood, Dianne has been sharing her experiences and fears. On her 'Winning Isn't Everything' podcast with former Strictly partner Chris McCausland, she revealed a sobering warning from a fellow mum. She was told to expect a significant hormonal drop around day four after giving birth. "Don't be alarmed if you just wake up and just start crying on the bathroom floor," she recounted being told. Buswell admitted, "Oh gosh that bit's going to be scary isn't it? Just the hormones." Despite the challenges ahead, the couple's journey from the Strictly dance floor to starting a family continues to capture public affection.
