A close friend of the Royal Family has shed light on the true state of Princess Kate's relationship with Prince Harry, indicating a continued frostiness with no reconciliation in sight. The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly channelling their energy into raising their young family at their new Windsor home, following years of public turmoil and private health battles.
A New Home and an Old Divide
In November, Prince William and Princess Catherine began a fresh chapter, moving into their £16 million "forever home," Forest Lodge, within the grounds of Great Windsor Park. This relocation places them near significant royal history: next to the former residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Frogmore Cottage, and close to Royal Lodge, previously occupied by Prince Andrew.
Despite the geographical proximity to Harry and Meghan's old life, the emotional distance remains vast. Royal expert Duncan Larcombe pointed to a telling moment in September as a clear signal of the ongoing rift. The Waleses made no public acknowledgement of Prince Harry's 41st birthday, a departure from usual royal custom.
"Kate's silence spoke a thousand words," Larcombe exclusively told OK!. "They didn't post anything on his birthday, which the royals normally would do. So Kate's message was loud and clear: the ball's not in our court, Harry – it's in yours."
Silence as the Only Weapon
Bound by strict royal protocol that prevents them from speaking out publicly, William and Kate are forced to communicate through subtle actions—or in this case, inaction. Larcombe explained that this calculated silence is their form of messaging.
"Neither Kate, nor William, can speak out publicly about Harry and Meghan," he said. "They have kept silent throughout all of this and rolled with all the punches, so they're forced into subtle, secret messaging – which is what this seems to be. They're not prepared to call Harry's bluff by sending him joyful birthday wishes, so they remain silent and avoid him at all costs."
This stance comes even as Prince Harry has reportedly begun to mend his relationship with his father, King Charles. However, the bridge to his brother and sister-in-law appears still burned.
Focusing on the Future: George, Charlotte, and Louis
Amid the strained relations, a source close to the couple revealed that Princess Kate is deliberately concentrating her efforts on her children and their future roles. "After repeatedly taking aim at his brother and sister-in-law, it's hardly surprising that William and Kate would rather focus on raising their own family," a source told The Times.
This focus is strategic. Kate has been gradually introducing Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to official duties, preparing them for their lifelong roles within the monarchy. Royal author Katie Nicholl highlighted this as the couple's primary challenge and mission.
"I think for Kate and William, the greatest challenge is going to be navigating their role as hands-on parents, and making sure they set the tone for the future of the monarchy," Nicholl told OK!. "That's going to be very much part of the bigger picture when they are king and queen. They'll be thinking ahead for future generations."
The source suggested that Kate's perspective may have been shaped by her recent cancer ordeal and a focus on what truly matters. "If Kate has learnt anything from her cancer ordeal... she'll know that life's far too short to get hung up on Harry." For now, the Waleses' court remains closed, with the onus for any reconciliation firmly placed elsewhere.
