Lily Allen: Daughters Still Text David Harbour After Split
Lily Allen on daughters' bond with ex David Harbour

Singer Lily Allen has provided a candid update on life following her separation from Stranger Things actor David Harbour, revealing that her two daughters continue to stay in touch with him.

A Lasting Bond Despite the Split

The 40-year-old artist confirmed that her children, Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 12, whom she shares with her first husband Sam Cooper, still text Harbour regularly. The couple parted ways approximately a year ago, but Allen has chosen not to intervene in their relationship.

Speaking to The Observer, she stated simply: "I stay out of it." She elaborated, "They've both got phones. They all text each other." This ongoing connection highlights the complex family dynamics that can persist after a high-profile separation.

Reflections on Marriage and Infidelity

Allen's latest musical work, the album West End Girl, hints at Harbour's alleged infidelity. The experience of her second marriage ending has given her a new perspective on the hurt she may have caused during her first marriage to Cooper.

"[I've learned there are no] baddies and goodies in a marriage," she explained. "But, having done things that were not very nice in my first marriage, I have a better idea now of the pain I may have inflicted." She added poignantly, "I've learned how horrible it is to be on the receiving end of that."

The Devastating Cost of Divorce

Despite two brief marriages, the 'Smile' singer hasn't ruled out the possibility of marrying again. She admitted to enjoying the celebration, the jewellery, and the feeling of being chosen, but stated firmly, "I don't like divorce."

She described the divorce process as "devastating", citing its emotional and financial toll. "It keeps you up at night and costs a huge amount of money and just goes on and on and on," Allen expressed. The legal battles have left her struggling with trust, creating an environment where "you can't trust anybody or anything."

Allen believes her experiences, including two marriages and motherhood, have fundamentally changed her since her early fame. "I'm a different person than I was 20 years ago because I've lived 20 years of my life and I've had two children and two marriages and I've learned a lot," she reflected, acknowledging the contradictions and growth that define a human life.
