A contestant from the wildly popular BBC series The Traitors has finally addressed the burning question fans repeatedly ask her, while pulling back the curtain on the show's intense filming process.
Birmingham's Traitorous Star Speaks Out
Fozia Fazil, the 51-year-old social value and inclusion manager from Birmingham, became a memorable figure in the show's third series, which aired in early 2025. In an exclusive chat with BirminghamLive, Fazil has shared candid details about her experience on the Claudia Winkleman-hosted programme, much to the delight of her many supporters from Brum and beyond.
Fans will recall Fazil's dramatic journey, where she sacrificed herself for fellow contestants during a tense train scene before even reaching the iconic Scottish castle, only to make a shocking return later in the series. She explained that her decisions were always guided by her gut instinct and personal principles.
The Shocking Reality of 'One Take' Filming
While viewers comfortably dissect every move from their sofas, Fazil revealed a production secret that might surprise the audience. Contrary to speculation, nothing on the show is rehearsed and scenes are filmed in a single take.
"You only get one take," Fazil stated, addressing the common fan query. "Because people used to ask me 'oh is it rehearsed,' [and] I was like, no." This high-pressure approach extends to the daily challenges. Fazil explained that when host Claudia Winkleman enters the breakfast room for the iconic morning briefings, it is the first time contestants hear their tasks for the day.
"That's the suspense while you're in it as well," she said. "[It's] brilliant the way they've done that too, because then you wouldn't be yourself if you knew what to expect in terms of the challenge, or what you were going to be doing next."
Praise for Production and Looking Ahead
Despite the demanding and unpredictable nature of the filming, Fazil was full of praise for the team behind the scenes. She described everyone involved as "absolutely brilliant" during her time on set.
Fazil also adhered strictly to the show's rules after her elimination, refusing to learn any details about the ongoing game until it was broadcast on television. The fourth series of The Traitors is now available to watch on BBC One at 9pm or stream on BBC iPlayer.
