'Benefit Queen' boasts of lying to the DWP
A 26-year-old mother who calls herself a 'benefit Queen' has sparked widespread anger after a viral video in which she boasted about systematically lying to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Jobcentre to avoid getting a job.
Ebony Wood filmed herself outside a Jobcentre for a 'confession time' segment, where she revealed she 'loves living off taxpayers’ money' and happily spends her Universal Credit on treats like McDonald's.
Lifestyle of a self-professed 'benefit Queen'
In the clip, the content creator detailed her daily routine, which involves staying in bed until 1pm. She expressed her disdain for those in employment, labelling anyone who works a 9-to-5 job as 'dumb' and 'embarrassing'.
She was quoted as saying, "If you’re a 9 to 5 worker, don’t be mad but it’s 1pm and [we] ain’t even left the bed yet." She went further, adding, "Honestly, I can’t lie, but it’s embarrassing – imagine breaking your back every day at work just to fund my Mackies."
Ebony defended her actions by stating, "I lied to the Jobcentre and you know what? I’d recommend it to everybody bruv. Honestly. It’s called survival, you get me?"
Public outrage and rare support
The video, uploaded on 08 November 2025, quickly drew a furious response from viewers. One person commented, "This honestly infuriates me!!!!" while another warned, "You put videos on here, the Jobcentre could be watching those."
Others expressed their disbelief, with one writing, "What in the benefits Britain is going on here?" and another challenging her directly: "I’d love to meet you to discuss why you don’t get a job."
However, the sentiment was not entirely one-sided. One supporter defended her, suggesting the system is difficult to navigate, writing, "It’s so difficult to get a job and that. They make it so difficult, at least they can support you financially." Ebony, referring to herself as Emily in one reply, thanked this user and agreed with their point of view.
This is not the first time the 26-year-old has stirred controversy online; she is known as a regular content creator who frequently posts rage-bait videos that gain significant traction on social media platforms.
