Romance and community pride are set to blossom in Sleaford next month as the town's beloved heart seat makes a highly anticipated return to the Market Place. From February 4 to 26, North Kesteven District Council will launch the 'Love Sleaford' campaign, inviting residents to express their affection for the town by adorning the seat with personal messages.
A Colourful Display of Local Pride
Locals can collect a heart tag from participating shops, such as the Market Square Café, Sleaford Library, and the Bairns Play Café, to write down what makes Sleaford special to them. These tags will be attached to the seat, creating a vibrant and heart-warming showcase of community spirit. The Council has officially purchased the installation to ensure it becomes a permanent feature of the town's seasonal celebrations for years to come.
Specialist company Fizzco will manage the setup, kicking off the February festivities with flair. District Council Leader Councillor Richard Wright expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting the event as a fantastic opportunity for residents to celebrate local businesses and landmarks while focusing on their wellbeing.
Promoting Health and Wellbeing in the Community
To align with National Heart Month, a significant health and wellbeing event will take place on Saturday, February 21, from 10am to 2pm. Spread across the Market Place and St Denys' Church Hall, the day will offer a range of free activities designed to encourage a healthier lifestyle.
Free Medical Screenings and Professional Advice
Visitors can access professional advice and complimentary medical screenings, including tests for blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol. Local gyms, sports clubs, and mental health services will be present to provide exclusive tips and membership incentives, supporting overall wellness in the community.
Fun Activities for All Ages
Children are encouraged to get active with free rock climbing walls and a football shoot-out challenge located in the heart of the town. These pop-up activities aim to make fitness enjoyable for the younger generation while parents explore the health stalls. The day will commence with a Co-op wellbeing walk starting at 10am from the Market Place, covering a gentle 30-minute route. While booking is advised via the Lincolnshire Co-op, everyone is welcome to join for some fresh air and neighbourly camaraderie.
Getting Involved and Supporting the Initiative
Businesses interested in hosting heart tags or community groups wanting to hold their own stalls are encouraged to contact the Council directly. This initiative not only fosters community engagement but also highlights the importance of health and togetherness in Sleaford.
