Thousands of visitors are anticipated to converge for a spectacular and entirely free fire and light festival in Mansfield next month, promising to transform a winter weekend into a dazzling spectacle.
Event Details and Timings
The Mansfield FireLight Festival will take over Titchfield Park on Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21. This family-friendly extravaganza will run each evening from 5.30pm to 9pm, offering ample time to explore the immersive installations.
A Dual Experience of Fire and Light
One half of the park will host the stunning Walk the Plank Fire Garden, where attendees can wander among hand-crafted sculptures of blazing blooms, creating a mesmerising atmosphere. The other half will feature a shimmering light trail, complete with an expanded enchanted forest and numerous mirror balls to enhance the magical ambience.
Popular selfie spots like the light tunnel and fairy wall are also returning, providing perfect opportunities for weekend photos. Four-legged friends are welcome to join the fun, provided they remain on a lead throughout the event.
Community and Accessibility Focus
Mansfield District Council has organised the event with support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Arts Council England. Executive mayor Andy Abrahams described the upcoming festival as an unforgettable way to brighten up a winter weekend.
He is encouraging everyone to bring their own glowsticks and torches to contribute to the illuminations, fostering a sense of community participation. The festival includes a variety of food vendors and offers relaxed viewing times from 5.30pm to 6pm for a quieter experience, with lights and sounds dimmed to ensure accessibility for all.
Ticket Information and Transport
While entry is free, visitors are encouraged to book e-tickets online to help manage safety at the busy event. More than 6,000 people have already secured their spots, though entry at the gate will still be available on the day for those without prior bookings.
The park is easily accessible via local bus routes, the nearby railway station, and several close-by car parks, making it convenient for attendees from across the region.
