Alison Hammond Addresses Celebrity Traitors Speculation

ITV This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has directly responded to persistent rumours suggesting she might join the cast of BBC's Celebrity Traitors. The popular television host has clarified that these reports are inaccurate, primarily due to a significant scheduling conflict with her existing professional commitments.

Rumours Put to Rest

The speculation emerged following the tremendous success of the first celebrity edition of The Traitors, which aired last autumn. That series featured notable personalities including Sir Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, and Paloma Faith, achieving an impressive average audience of 14.9 million viewers, making it the most-watched television programme of 2025.

However, Alison Hammond, the beloved Brummie broadcaster, has definitively stated that she cannot participate. "I can't do it because I'm doing Bake Off," she explained during an appearance on ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show. "I think it's the same time when I'm doing Bake Off, so that's a definite no."

Faithful Over Traitor

While expressing regret at missing the opportunity, Hammond also revealed her preferred role within the game's format. "I'm so sorry, I would love to do that," she said. "I wouldn't want to be a traitor though, I'd want to be a faithful. I don't want no stress."

The Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, involves 22 contestants where the majority are 'faithfuls' tasked with identifying the secret 'traitors' among them, who eliminate other players nightly in a bid to win a cash prize.

Focus on Great British Bake Off

Alison Hammond's primary focus remains on her role as a host for the upcoming series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. She will be presenting alongside comedian Noel Fielding, with TV cook Paul Hollywood returning as a judge.

The show will see a significant change on the judging panel, with cookbook author and television personality Nigella Lawson joining to replace Dame Prue Leith. Hammond shared her mixed feelings about this transition. "It's kind of bittersweet. We love Prue," she remarked. "She's incredible – she's given nine years of her time, but we also want her to go and enjoy life as well."

She added context to Dame Prue's departure, noting her age and desire for a different pace. "I think she's 86 now. She's got a wonderful husband and they want to do more things. When you're doing Bake Off, your summer's gone, literally."

Dame Prue Leith announced in January her decision to step down after judging the show since 2017, expressing a wish to "work less and play more."

Hammond expressed excitement about working with Nigella Lawson, revealing, "We're very excited that we've got Nigella Lawson. I can't wait – I'm actually meeting her next week. We're going to have a coffee and a little chat. She's really excited."

The Jonathan Ross Show, featuring this interview, airs on Saturday at 10pm on ITV1 and the streaming service ITVX.
