I visited 'hidden gem' farm park 50 minutes from Birmingham and it's too good to be kept a secret. Little Owl Farm Park in Worcestershire is only a 50 minute drive from Birmingham city centre.
Since having my little girl over 16 months ago, I'm always on the lookout for new, fun activities for us to do on our days off together, now that I'm back at work and she's in childcare. But most importantly, it needs to be activities that won't always break the bank too. Living in the West Midlands we have plenty of parks, zoos, farms, soft plays and more to entertain young children.
So when having a look for where our family could go on a post Easter day out to enjoy the sunshine, I discovered this 'hidden gem' farm park that's right on my doorstep - and only a 50 minute drive from Birmingham city centre. Little Owl Farm Park is located in Dunhampton, in Worcestershire, and as much as I'd like to keep the secret of this place to myself, I just can't. It is family-run which makes me love it even more! Described as 'not only offering an educational experience, but also a fun packed day out for all the family'.
Plenty of Animals and Spring Babies
There's plenty of animals to spot at Little Owl Farm Park from chickens to pigs, to pigs and wallabies! As it was spring when we visited, there was plenty of new babies including pigs, lambs, rabbits, chicks and Guinea pigs. Adults can visit from as little as £8.95 on weekdays, while children aged between two and 15 years cost £8.50 when booked online. Weekends cost slightly more if booked online, but are also cheaper than the on-the-door prices.
There's so much to see and do - and it's perfect for children of all ages, even as little as my daughter! We had the best family day out we'd had in ages - and already can't wait to go back in the summer. There's so many animals you can get up close to - from alpacas to deer, to owls and pigs, plus sheep, rabbits and even wallabies! And with spring fully underway there were plenty of babies to spot too! We loved seeing the cute little piglets, while also helping to feed one of the lambs in lambing barn.
Petting Barn and Critter Cabin
We also loved Little Owl's petting barn where they hold regular demonstrations allowing you to hold various animals. Plus there was lots of cute and fluffy babies too - we even spotted a day-old Guinea pig, as well as rabbits and newly hatched chicks. The critter cabin, although small, was packed full with bearded dragons, snakes, geckos, tarantulas and more. My daughter was highly amused by one of the corn snakes slithering its way up the window.
Play Areas and Activities
There's plenty of open space to burn off energy too as well as a huge adventure playground, indoor soft play, go karts, zipline, sledge run, bouncing pillows and climbing wall. Not to mention the sheep race! Little Owl Farm Park also has a reasonably priced cafe on-site, but we found plenty of spots across the site to enjoy our picnic - particularly in the newly themed tractor barn. My little girl loved playing on the toy tractors and driving through the pretend car wash!
Overall we had the most wonderful day at Little Owl Farm Park - and it really is a hidden gem. I haven't stopped talking about it since, telling all my mum friends to visit and already planning our return over the summer months. I'd love to keep it as a little secret to myself, but its just too good not to share. And if you do go, let us know what you think!
