Rowan's Secret Postcard Exhibition 'Greetings From' Draws Crowds and Funds

Rowan, a cherished local charity arts centre and forest school dedicated to adults with learning disabilities, recently celebrated a resounding success with its Secret Postcard Exhibition, titled "Greetings From". The event, held at The Guildhall in Cambridge, managed to raise an impressive £3823 while welcoming more than 300 enthusiastic visitors. This annual showcase has become a highlight in the community calendar, blending creativity with charitable support.

A Creative Showcase with Over 145 Canvases

The exhibition featured a stunning collection of more than 145 canvases, contributed by a diverse group including local artists, community members, and Rowan's own talented student artists. This year's theme, "Greetings From", inspired participants to think innovatively, resulting in artworks that depicted scenes from holidays, special events, and even imaginative vistas from outer space. The variety and quality of the pieces underscored the vibrant artistic spirit fostered by Rowan.

Heartfelt Thanks from Rowan's Team

Rose Bloomfield, the fundraising and events manager at Rowan, expressed her gratitude, stating: "We look forward to this event every year and we would like to thank those who attended, supported, and contributed to making the exhibition such a success." She extended special appreciation to The Guildhall for providing the venue and its supportive staff. Additionally, Bloomfield acknowledged the generosity of local Cambridge artists Caia Matheson, Clare McEwan, Jill Winch, Mark Van Heygen, Mingyu Du, Paul Kneen, and Sarah Nibbs, who donated pieces for the silent auction. "And we can never put on such events without our fantastic volunteers," she added, highlighting their crucial role in both the weekend event and the preview evening on Friday.

Exhibition Continues Online and Upcoming Events

For those who missed the in-person experience, the "Greetings From" exhibition remains accessible online, where all canvases are still available for purchase through Rowan's website. This digital extension offers a chance to explore and acquire these mini masterpieces, supporting the charity's ongoing efforts. Rowan also invites the community to its upcoming Spring Coffee morning on Saturday, March 21, from 10am to 12.30pm at 40 Humberstone Road, Cambridge, CB4 1JG. Everyone is welcome to attend, learn more about Rowan's programs, events, volunteering opportunities, or even explore becoming a student artist.
