A talented comedian from the Wirral is hoping to secure a major comedy accolade with the help of public votes. Ben Turner from Bebington has been named a finalist in a prestigious national competition, putting the peninsula firmly on the comedy map.
From Pub Raffles to National Finals
Ben Turner, a 49-year-old father of two, has reached the finals of the Spitfire Comedy Awards in the coveted One Liner Comedian of the Year category. The semi-professional comic, who balances his act with fatherhood and a day job in public relations, was thrilled by the nomination.
"It was a lovely surprise to be nominated," Ben joked. "I haven’t really won anything of note before apart from a tray of meat in a pub raffle so it would it be great if people could vote so I could bring home the bacon to the wonderful Wirral!"
A Proven Gag Merchant with National Recognition
This is not Ben's first brush with one-liner fame. He is a previous finalist in the World One Liner Championship and earned a spot in both the Daily Telegraph and The Poke's lists of the funniest jokes during the lockdown period. Described by the Manchester Comedy Club as "funny enough to text your ex about", Ben is the resident MC at the popular comedy nights held at Thornton Hough Village Club.
How You Can Help Ben Win
The outcome of the competition now rests in the hands of the public. To vote for Ben and help him win the title, supporters simply need to comment with his name and 'One Liner' on the official competition post. Voting closes at the end of December, so time is of the essence for fans to show their support.
