Celebrities Experience New Bluey Ride at Alton Towers
A host of celebrities descended upon Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire to celebrate the grand opening of the world's first Bluey-themed rollercoaster. The attraction, named Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies, officially launched in CBeebies Land on Saturday, March 28, 2026, drawing notable figures from television and comedy.
Star-Studded Inaugural Rides
Among the first to try the new junior coaster were comedian Katherine Ryan, Celebs Go Dating star Anna Williamson, Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley, and former Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden. They were joined by other familiar faces, including Lydia Bright, Georgia Kousoulou, Mario Falcone, and Amy Childs, all known for their roles on The Only Way is Essex.
The ride is specifically designed for pre-schoolers and young families, featuring playful twists and turns inspired by a fan-favourite episode of the Bluey series. In this episode, the characters Bluey and Bingo dress up as the mischievous grannies Janet and Rita, bringing their chaotic energy to life in a fun, family-friendly experience.
Official Opening and Statements
The Heeler family, central characters from the Bluey show, presided over the official opening ceremony. They were accompanied by CBeebies presenters Ben Cajee, Evie Pickerill, Joanna Adeyinka-Buford, and George Webster, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Howard Ebison, vice president of Alton Towers Resort, expressed his enthusiasm for the new attraction. "Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is all about celebrating energy, play and those everyday moments families love about the show," he said. "Alongside even more bespoke Bluey-themed hotel rooms, we’re delighted that fans can now enjoy the new attraction and immerse themselves in the mayhem of the Grannies."
Natasha Spence, events director for live entertainment at BBC Studios, also shared her excitement. "We know that whenever the Grannies come out to play, it is a fan-favourite moment for those that love the show," she remarked. "We are excited that the energy of these much-loved characters is being brought to life in Bluey’s first-ever coaster at Alton Towers Resort – home to CBeebies Land."
