Birmingham's First Fully Halal Food Hall to Open in Digbeth with Cultural Flair
A vibrant new halal food hall is set to open in Birmingham's creative Digbeth neighbourhood, promising a culturally rich and high-energy experience for visitors. The ArtQuarter hub on Allison Street will launch the city's first fully halal food hall within a restored 1930s building, blending diverse global flavours with immersive artworks and community spirit.
Community Iftar Events and Eid Launch Plans
The food hall will debut with three special community Iftar events on March 3, 4, and 5, offering a preview of its offerings before the public opening. Full operations will commence in time for Eid celebrations on March 18, 19, and 20, positioning the venue as a central gathering point during this significant period.
Founder Jordan Patel emphasised the inclusive vision behind the project, stating: "Halal simply means clean. I want the space we're creating to reflect that. This space isn't just for eating good food - it's about bringing people and communities together."
A Multi-Sensory Experience with Artistic Elements
Designed as more than just a dining destination, the hall will feature:
- Multiple food vendors serving halal cuisine from around the world
- Non-alcoholic cocktail bars and beverage stations
- Immersive artworks and installations throughout the space
- A dedicated arcade area for socialising and relaxation
- Communal seating arrangements encouraging interaction
The organisers describe it as a "fully sensory experience" that combines culinary excellence with cultural expression, creating what they call "unmistakeable vibes" within the vibrant setting.
Supporting Local Traders and Creative Talent
ArtQuarter's food hall initiative aims to provide a platform for local food traders, emerging artists, and creative professionals. While specific vendors have yet to be announced, the space promises to showcase Birmingham's diverse culinary and artistic talent within an inclusive environment.
In an official statement, ArtQuarter explained: "Designed as more than just a place to eat, it blends food, culture and creativity to form a vibrant social hub - where great food meets unmistakable vibes."
Part of Digbeth's Growing Food Scene
The opening comes as Digbeth continues to establish itself as Birmingham's premier creative and culinary destination. Another food hall is planned for the Custard Factory this year, with Alfred Works already sharing details about its forthcoming offerings.
Jordan Patel expressed excitement about the project's potential impact: "This is where we go to the next level and really see the ArtQuarter in all its glory. The food hall will be our platform for change."
With its commitment to halal dining at the core of its operations, the food hall aims to welcome all communities who appreciate quality food, creativity, and cultural exchange, further enriching Birmingham's diverse social landscape.
