Alan Carr's Castle Quest: New Disney+ Series Follows Post-Divorce Scottish Adventure
Alan Carr Hunts Scottish Castle in Disney+ Series

Comedian Alan Carr has revealed ambitious plans to purchase a Scottish castle as he embarks on a fresh chapter following his 2022 divorce from Paul Drayton. The 49-year-old television personality intends to document his property search in a forthcoming Disney+ series, currently titled Castle Man, marking a significant lifestyle change after thirteen years of marriage.

Starting Afresh After Divorce

Alan Carr confirmed he is selling the West Sussex home he previously shared with his ex-husband near Horsham, describing the decision as both emotional and liberating. "I'm selling up and going up there. For real. My money, my decision," he told the Daily Mirror. "I'm still in the house where my ex was. We're divorced now, and it's been four years."

The comedian, who met Paul Drayton in 2006 and married in a ceremony officiated by singer Adele in 2018, expressed enthusiasm about re-entering the dating scene alongside his relocation plans. "I'm single now, ready to mingle," Carr announced, highlighting how this property hunt represents a symbolic new beginning.

Castle Inspiration from Celebrity Traitors

Carr's castle fascination was significantly inspired by his participation in the inaugural series of The Celebrity Traitors, filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands. He described the experience as "the best thing I have ever done" and successfully navigated the game as an undetected Traitor, winning £87,500 which he generously donated to children's charity Neuroblastoma UK.

The show's impact extended beyond the prize, with Carr noting increased public recognition. "I felt like Kim Kardashian. I went to America, and a woman shouted at me from a balcony, 'I see you, Traitor!'" he remarked, humorously adding that after twenty-five years in entertainment, people were suddenly noticing his comedic talent.

Childhood Dreams Becoming Reality

Alan Carr's castle aspiration isn't a sudden whim but rather the fulfilment of a lifelong fantasy. "Since I was a boy in Northampton, I've always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home," he explained, contrasting his ambition with more conventional midlife crisis behaviours.

"Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me, I want my very own castle," Carr stated with characteristic humour. "As I turn 50, I feel it's my time. All I want is a turret to call my own. Get me over that drawbridge!"

The Practical Hunt Begins

While the dream is firmly established, the practical search is just commencing. Carr admitted he hasn't yet viewed potential properties but plans imminent trips to Scotland to explore options. "It's so exciting, but I haven't seen [the properties] yet, and I'm going up to Scotland to have a look. They've got me viewing a few," he revealed, suggesting the Disney+ series will capture both the logistical challenges and emotional journey of this unique property quest.

The series title Castle Man cleverly references Carr's earlier successful Channel 4 talk show Chatty Man, creating continuity between his television past and this new streaming venture. This personal and professional reinvention comes at a pivotal moment as Carr approaches his fiftieth birthday, blending reality television elements with genuine lifestyle transformation.
