Disney's live-action adaptation of Tangled has found its charming rogue. After a period of development limbo, it has been confirmed that Milo Manheim will officially portray the iconic character of Flynn Rider in the upcoming film.
The Official Casting and the Audition Process
According to industry reports, the casting process for the much-anticipated role was highly competitive. Milo Manheim, best known for his role in Disney's Zombies franchise and as a finalist on Dancing with the Stars, reportedly tested for the part in London in December and has now officially landed the role. The 24-year-old actor's casting comes after the film's production was 'postponed indefinitely' in 2025 before being revived.
However, Manheim was not the only star vying for the chance to play Rapunzel's love interest. Charlie Gillespie, the 27-year-old actor famed for his role in Netflix's Julie and the Phantoms, also undertook chemistry reads for the part of Flynn Rider. His musical talent, showcased in songs like 'Unsaid Emily', made him a strong contender.

Several other actors are confirmed to have auditioned. Rising stage star Gilli Jones, a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, threw his hat in the ring. Meanwhile, Corey Mylchreest of Queen Charlotte fame revealed he auditioned when the project first entered production, but suggested his singing experience may have cost him the role.
