Netflix Drops New Peaky Blinders Trailer Teasing Gang Leadership Battle
Netflix has unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, titled Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, today on February 19. The trailer introduces a mysterious new character and teases a significant power struggle within the iconic Shelby family.
Plot Details and Setting
The film is set in 1940, against the backdrop of World War Two. It follows the journey of Tommy Shelby, portrayed by Cillian Murphy, as he emerges from a self-imposed exile. Tommy must confront his illegitimate son, Duke, played by Barry Keoghan, who has taken over as the new leader of the Peaky Blinders gang.
In the new trailer, Ada Shelby, played by Sophie Rundle, informs Tommy that Duke is running the gang "like it's 1919 all over again." Duke first appeared in the television show's sixth series, adding depth to his character's rise to power.
Introduction of a Mysterious New Character
A new character named Kaulo, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson, is introduced in the trailer. Her storyline remains largely under wraps, but it is revealed that she is an associate of Tommy's. At the beginning of the trailer, Kaulo whispers to Tommy, "you live in a house haunted by ghosts, of people who died because of you." She further tells him, "You abandoned your kingdom. And you abandoned your son."
Fan Reactions and Excitement
Fans have quickly shared their initial reactions to the new footage in the comments section. One fan wrote, "It's going to be an amazing experience! I can't wait!" Another Peaky Blinders enthusiast added, "Bruh, March 20 is my birthday. If this is not the best birthday gift, IDK what is." A third commented, "Barry Keoghan and Cillian Murphy, both of them look so badass, I am hyped for this one."
Insights from Cillian Murphy
Discussing the film ahead of its release in March, star Cillian Murphy told Netflix's Tudum that his character Tommy has reached a point where he is "as broken as he has been" when viewers encounter him. He added, "He's just medicating and living in this purgatory that he's created for himself in this big old house. He's in this liminal space, not really living, he's not really dead. He's ignoring the world, he's ignoring his family."
Release Information
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is scheduled to be available in cinemas from March 6. It will be available to stream on Netflix starting March 20. This highly anticipated film promises to deliver intense drama and action for fans of the series.
