The Traitors' Paul Gorton, 38, reveals major TV career change with Vernon Kay
Traitors star Paul Gorton announces new BBC TV show

Former Traitors star Paul Gorton has announced a major career shift, moving from the show's infamous deception to a new presenting role on the BBC. The 38-year-old father-of-two from St Helens, who became an iconic figure in the show's second series in 2024, is set to co-host a brand new programme.

From Business Manager to Unreliable Tour Guide

In an exclusive interview, Gorton revealed details of his upcoming project, Do You Know Your Place?. He will appear alongside seasoned television presenter Vernon Kay. Gorton, who introduced himself as a business manager on The Traitors but has a background in tech, explained his unique role in the new format.

"In the show, I am an unreliable tour guide where I take three celebrities virtually around different towns, every day, revealing loads of different amazing hidden facts and figures about whatever town that I'm in," Gorton stated. However, he confirmed that his infamous Traitors cunning would come into play. "But then also because of my character, some of them [the facts] aren't true."

How the New BBC Show Will Work

The format will see Gorton's virtual tours followed by a quiz segment hosted by Vernon Kay. "Vernon Kay will ask, well, 'Paul's just said such and such a thing about such and such a town, but would you believe that this is true or would you believe [the town] is that length or would you believe it's this old'," Gorton elaborated.

The celebrities must then decide on a large screen whether the facts presented by Gorton are truthful or part of his deceptive act. The show is scheduled to be broadcast early this year, marking Gorton's first major television project since his stint on the hit BBC reality series.

The Best Thing Since The Traitors

Gorton described the opportunity as a dream come true and a significant step in his post-Traitors career. Reflecting on the programme, he said: "It's incredible and it is by far the best thing I've done after The Traitors and I can't believe I actually get to do it."

This move signifies a clever pivot for Gorton, leveraging his memorable persona from the show—where contestants secretly sabotage others—and applying that same aura of mischief to a light-hearted, factual entertainment format. Fans of the 2024 series will be eager to see how his deceptive charm translates to a family-friendly BBC programme.
