The National Trust has issued a significant visitor update for one of the Midlands' most popular tourist attractions, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums in Shropshire. Following the takeover last month, the museums have remained closed, but now reopening dates have been announced.
Reopening Phases
In a statement on Facebook, the National Trust confirmed: "We are very pleased to say we are still on track to reopen Blists Hill, the Museum of Iron and the Furnace Kitchen as planned in May. Details of exact timings and prices will follow on our website in the next few weeks."
Additionally, Jackfield Tile Museum and Enginuity are expected to reopen to schools in June, with weekend bookable visits for other visitors. However, the Toll House reopening will be slightly delayed to mid-June due to challenges with IT and infrastructure investments.
Future Plans
Other sites, including the Museum of the Gorge, will reopen in a phased manner over the rest of the year. This initial phase precedes an exciting summer as the National Trust welcomes members and visitors to this World Heritage site.
The transition follows major investment from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, ensuring the preservation of the area's links to the Industrial Revolution.
