Rutland Water Beach, a Blue Flag beach just 90 minutes from Birmingham, offers beautiful sand and a lake for swimming and paddling. Being free to visit, it gets very busy, especially on hot days and school holidays. Anglian Water has issued a warning about what to expect during peak times.
Peak Time Measures and Parking
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "During our peak beach usage operations we may use all areas of car parking available including red overflow areas marked below. Overflow A is our main overflow car park and is a 15 minute walk from the beach. When Overflow A is used please expect a very, very busy beach and site amenities."
Only Blue Badge holders will be allowed to use the main car park areas while Overflow A is in use. The overflow will be used until staff are confident that further traffic can be parked in the main area. Car parking is charged on entry per car, and visitors are advised to have payment ready to speed up entry. Annual permit holders should have their permits ready as there are no additional charges for them.
Blue Flag Status and Facilities
The Blue Flag award recognizes excellent water quality, biodiversity, and green spaces for the community. Rutland Water Beach has lifeguards on watch throughout the summer season. It is not open every day, so visitors should check opening times before traveling to avoid disappointment.
