Strictly Come Dancing contestant Amber Davies has issued a direct plea to online trolls, urging them to show kindness after receiving significant abuse during her time on the BBC show.
A Candid Plea for Kindness
The former Love Island star and West End performer took to social media to address the criticism head-on. Her message came just hours before the Sunday night results show, following her performance in Musicals Week with professional partner Nikita Kuzmin, which scored a top 40 points.
In her post, the 29-year-old reminded viewers of the show's nature. "Guys, please...it really is just a television show," she wrote. She highlighted the immense physical and mental effort involved, stating, "You have no idea what we put our mind and body through for this experience."
Unexpected Entry into the Competition
Davies's participation in the competition was not part of the original plan. She was called in as a last-minute replacement after fellow Love Island star Dani Dyer was forced to pull out due to a fractured ankle sustained in rehearsals. This meant Amber stepped onto the Strictly dance floor with just a day's notice to prepare.
Addressing the negativity directly, she appealed: "The meanies are out to play. Please be kind." She also made sure to thank those who had supported her, adding, "To anyone who has left a NICE comment thank you."
Focusing on the Positive Support
In a follow-up message, Davies shifted focus to the positive response from many fans. "On a lighter note, I see the support and love. And it makes me want to cry," she posted. "I love you all lots, thank you from the bottom of my heart."
The performer, who is preparing to take the lead role in the Legally Blonde musical in February 2026, emphasised that she was simply trying her best with the unexpected opportunity that came her way.
The abuse directed at Davies has largely centred on her previous dance experience, a common point of contention for some viewers of the show. Her heartfelt posts have sparked further conversation about the impact of online criticism on reality TV contestants.
