Miley Cyrus Jokes Engagement Ring Was a 'Black Friday Deal'
Miley Cyrus jokes ring was a 'Black Friday deal'

Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has playfully suggested her new engagement ring was a savvy Black Friday purchase from fiancé Maxx Morando.

A Bargain Proposal?

The 33-year-old 'Flowers' singer made the humorous claim during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The host quipped that Morando could have saved himself the trouble of a Christmas gift if he had waited a few more weeks to propose. Cyrus retorted with a laugh, "This was [a] Black Friday deal, baby."

She then clarified her statement, showing a touch of uncertainty about the ring's origins. "It wasn't but he was smart that way. It might have been. I'm not sure," she added. The couple announced their engagement recently, revealing that Morando popped the question while they were on a trip to Japan.

Miley's Unusual Festive Phobia

Beyond discussing her engagement, Cyrus opened up about her self-proclaimed status as a Christmas 'Grinch', stemming from a severe aversion to paper. "I have a qualm with Christmas. I hate paper," she confessed to Kimmel.

She elaborated on the sensory issue, stating, "Like, looking at that [paper on your desk] makes me want to vomit." Cyrus explained that the problem intensifies during the festive period due to dry winter hands touching wrapping paper and cards. "When someone sends me a lovely letter, I don't even open it," she admitted.

The singer even joked that her engagement has a practical benefit, saying, "That's why I got engaged. I make my fiancé open all the packages outside."

Waxed Paper and Future Plans

Despite her phobia, Cyrus confirmed she would have no issue signing her next marriage certificate. She recalled from her previous marriage to actor Liam Hemsworth that such legal documents are typically printed on waxed paper, which doesn't trigger her aversion. "Anything that's got like a smooth surface, that's better," she noted.

The star revealed the condition is worsening and affecting her daily life. "I love text message. No paper. Email, no paper. Phone call, no paper," she listed as preferred contact methods.

Seeking a solution, Cyrus stated she is considering professional intervention. "I am going to look into some sort of EMDR, being hypnotized about it," she shared, indicating her serious intent to address the phobia.
