Hinckley Museum Announces Exciting New Exhibits and Events for Spring
The award-winning Hinckley Museum, entirely managed and operated by dedicated volunteers, is set to launch a series of captivating new events and displays in the coming months, offering visitors a rich cultural experience.
Grand Opening and New Displays
Opening on Easter Saturday, April 4, the museum will debut with a taste of the Civil War, featuring new exhibits that explore The English Civil War, celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Hinckley Rotarians, and showcase footwear displays, including ballet shoes from the Earl Shilton-based company 'Suffolk Pojnte'. These additions ensure there is something for everyone, from history buffs to fashion enthusiasts.
Ongoing Exhibitions and Volunteer Contributions
Ongoing exhibitions delve into the fascinating world of the knitting industry, highlighting knitwear design up to the 20th century. Enthusiastic volunteers have successfully restored old knitting machines to working order, and they will be on-site to demonstrate the art of knitting. Visitors are even invited to try their hand at operating these machines themselves.
One of the key volunteers, John Chinn, was recently honored with a Making a Difference Award for his outstanding dedication and contribution to local heritage. The museum's volunteer team has also received a 100 percent rating from 'Visit England', earning a special certificate for their efforts in creating a welcoming tourist attraction.

The museum focuses on the traditional industries that brought wealth and national importance to Hinckley, such as hosiery, knitwear, and the boot and shoe industries. It also received a Making a Difference Award at a recent ceremony in the town, further recognizing its community impact.
