A brand new 12-metre high inflatable aqua slide is set to open near Birmingham, promising thrills for adrenaline seekers. The X Tower at Aqualand Cliff Lakes in Tamworth is described as 'not for the faint-hearted' and will debut on Saturday, May 23.
What is The X Tower?
Standing at a towering 12 metres tall, The X Tower is officially the UK's first tower of its kind. It features six epic slides, including dual racing lanes, high-speed drop slides with kicker exits, and a sliding mat. Designed for those aged 12 and over, it is built for adrenaline junkies.
A spokesperson for Cliff Lakes said: 'We’re taking Aqualand to a whole new level. This is not for the faint-hearted. This is next level! Are you brave enough to take it on?'
Aqualand Reopens for Summer
Aqualand at Cliff Lakes reopens for the summer season on Saturday, May 2, just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend. Bosses promise it will be 'bigger and better' than ever. Alongside The X Tower, a new slide called the Wibit Wave will also be available. This 15-metre long, five-metre high slide features a double-wave for swimmers to enjoy.
Other Attractions at Aqualand
Cliff Lakes is the Midlands' largest open water venue, offering open water swimming and paddleboarding. Aqualand comprises eight different areas:
- Aqua Chimp course: 14 challenging obstacles testing strength, balance, and determination.
- Kids Park: For ages 11 and under, with 13 elements to climb, bounce, and explore.
- Peakz: Elevated obstacles challenging balance, agility, and speed.
- Aquaglide: Slides, jumps, and exciting challenges for racing and splashdowns.
- Wibit: A dynamic course with climbing, jumping, crawling, hanging, and sliding.
- Wibit Mountain: Over four metres tall with eight different slides.
- Union: Balance beams, slides, and connecting elements for coordination and competition.
- Wibit Wave: New for 2026, a double wave slide from five metres high and 15 metres long.
Each session lasts 80 minutes and includes wetsuits and aqua socks. Visitors can also become a Cliff Lakes Aqualand Member for just £10, receiving £10 off future visits for the rest of the 2026 season. Aqualand is suitable for anyone aged six and over.
How to Get to Cliff Lakes from Birmingham
Cliff Lakes is located at Tamworth Road, Cliff, Tamworth B78 2DL, approximately 25 minutes from Birmingham via the M6 (traffic permitting). Alternatively, catch a train from Birmingham New Street to Wilnecote, then a bus or taxi for the remaining three miles.
