The first mega music festival of the summer is on its way to Birmingham's doorstep, promising an unforgettable long weekend of live music, sunshine, and camaraderie. Bearded Theory Festival, the traditional opener of the summer festival season, is set to take place from May 20 to 24, 2026, at the idyllic Catton Hall in Derbyshire, just a short train ride and shuttle bus away for Brummies.
Massive Line-Up Features Global Stars and Local Talent
This year's line-up is headlined by iconic acts Pixies, Skunk Anansie, and Garbage, with an undercard that includes CMAT, Kae Tempest, Everything Everything, Fat Dog, and The Damned. The West Midlands is well represented with performances from Walsall duo Big Special, Brummie band Gans, cult post-punks The Nightingales, and comic Stewart Lee.
Family-Friendly Fun and Eclectic Activities
Bearded Theory bills itself as a family-friendly festival, offering a special festival school on Friday that meets Ofsted requirements. Beyond music, attendees can enjoy dance, cabaret, comedy, food, drink, arts, crafts, meditation, yoga, and even whittling. Camping options range from family-only fields to pre-pitched tents, glamping, and luxury airstreams with private facilities.
Last year's event received rave reviews, earning festival awards. Birmingham Live praised the festival, saying: "This little festival, 40 minutes out of Birmingham on the Staffs/Derbys border, delivered a whacking dose of feelgood hits, legends, weirdos, new finds, political commentary and magic moments over four mostly sun-kissed days... The team behind Bearded Theory had it all on-point."
