Married at First Sight Australia's Bec Zacharia was left in tears during the Reunion Commitment Ceremony after watching previously unseen footage of her ex-husband Danny Hewitt. The clip, recorded before Final Vows, showed Danny making dismissive comments about their future together.
Danny's Absence and Unseen Interview
Following an explosive Reunion Dinner Party, Danny chose not to attend the Commitment Ceremony, leaving Bec to face the experts alone. During the ceremony, producers played a compilation of Bec and Danny's journey, followed by an unseen clip from Danny's final interview.
When asked by producers, 'What does the future look like without Bec?' Danny responded, 'The future without Bec would be bright. Do you know what I mean? After this there's gonna be women queuing up for me. I won't be able to walk down the street, they'll be throwing their pantyhoses at me. Either way it's going to be alright.'
Bec was visibly heartbroken after watching the footage and broke down in tears on the couch. Expert Alessandra Rampolla asked Bec what the hardest part was about watching the clip.
Bec's Emotional Response
Bec stated that Danny had been 'cruel' to her, as she had believed they would leave together at Final Vows. However, he ended their relationship and did not contact her for days. She added: 'Danny is out for himself and no one else. If it benefits Danny, he'll do it. If it benefits Danny, he's there.'
Reflecting on the situation, Bec admitted that Danny simply was not that into her, but she had turned a blind eye to the reality in hopes of a happy ending.
Bec's Self-Reflection
Looking back at her time on MAFS, Bec acknowledged that she was 'reactive' and did not like some traits she displayed on the show. She said: 'I've certainly learnt that I'm reactive. I need to breathe and be calm. I didn't like some of the things I saw in myself.'
She also expressed regret for her behaviour towards Alissa, not believing Gia, and being harsh on Steph during the dinner party. Despite everything, Bec was proud of herself for showing up even when things were difficult.
