Visit England has announced the finalists for its Awards for Excellence 2026, highlighting some of the best attractions within easy reach of Birmingham and the West Midlands. These awards celebrate quality, innovation, and exceptional customer service in England's tourism industry.

Midlands Finalists Worth Exploring

Among the 53 finalists selected by tourism experts, several Midlands attractions stand out for family days out during weekends and school holidays.

National Justice Museum

In Nottingham, the National Justice Museum is a finalist for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year. Visitors can explore winding passageways of an underground world, discovering lives of people who lived and worked in ancient caves beneath Nottingham's city centre, including WWII air raid shelters and a medieval tannery.

Morgan Experience

Another Small Visitor Attraction of the Year finalist is the Morgan Experience in Malvern, based at the historic Morgan Motor Company site. With over a century of history, guests can take guided factory tours, see the latest Morgan models, and drive a Morgan through the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Blacksmithing Experience Days

Oldfield Forge in Herefordshire is up for Experience of the Year. Participants learn to forge a knife, create a unique gift, or enjoy a fun session at a traditional blacksmith's forge in the Herefordshire countryside.

Visit England Director Andrew Stokes said: "These awards honour the very best businesses and individuals in tourism, who are the driving force in an industry that delivers growth to local economies across England. I thank them for their dedicated service, congratulate them on achieving finalist status and wish them every success."

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on June 3, 2026. For more ideas on things to do around Birmingham, follow the Brummie Mummies Facebook page and Instagram page, sign up to the newsletter, and listen to podcasts.
