Europe's Biggest Free Balloon Festival £10 Train from Birmingham

Europe's biggest free hot air balloon festival is just a short train ride from Birmingham, offering a spectacular three-day event with over 100 colourful balloons. The Bristol Balloon Fiesta, held at Ashton Court Estate, is free to attend and accessible via a £10 train journey from Birmingham New Street to Bristol Temple Meads.

Event Highlights

Taking place from August 7 to 9, 2026, the festival features multiple mass ascents at dawn (approximately 6am) and dusk (approximately 6pm), weather permitting. Visitors can enjoy dreamy sunrise take-offs and cosy Nightglow spectacles, where balloons glow in sync with music from BBC Radio Bristol.

The main arena buzzes with balloon-themed fun, stunt displays, marching bands, and live entertainment on the Brizzle Kicks and Moon Stages. There are also helter skelters, a Ferris wheel, and opportunities to Meet the Pilots.
