Henry's Blueshouse Brings Free Friday Live Music to West Bromwich Indoor Market
Free Friday Music Events at West Bromwich Indoor Market

A legendary Birmingham music institution, famous for giving Black Sabbath their first break, is set to bring a weekly dose of free live entertainment to the Black Country. Henry's Blueshouse will host free Friday night music sessions at West Bromwich Indoor Market, starting on January 16 and running from 7pm until 10pm.

A Historic Club Night Finds a New Home

The events are being organised by Jim Simpson, the original manager of Black Sabbath. The iconic club night, which has been running since 1968, is renowned as the spot where Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – then called Earth – first performed. Over the decades, it has also hosted legendary acts like Jethro Tull, Status Quo and Thin Lizzy.

While Henry's Blueshouse currently runs every Tuesday at Snobs in Birmingham, this new venture marks its first regular foray into the Black Country. Stallholders at the market will stay open until 9pm, serving street food and drinks, including cocktails, to create a vibrant Friday evening atmosphere.

Boosting the Local High Street and Community Spirit

The initiative is a partnership with Sandwell Council, aimed at drawing visitors and supporting local trade. Jim Simpson expressed his enthusiasm, stating: "We're thrilled to be extending Henry's to the Black Country and look forward to seeing music fans join us every Friday. A big thanks to Sandwell Council for forming this new partnership with us to bring regular live blues to West Bromwich High Street."

He confirmed that a strong line-up of bands is already booked for January and February, with plans extending into spring. Councillor Peter Hughes, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for Regeneration and Infrastructure, highlighted the market's success since its 2025 opening and the council's commitment to supporting businesses. "We're excited to have these music events with Henry's Blueshouse coming soon on Friday evenings, to entertain visitors and create a wonderful, inviting atmosphere for everyone," he said.

Confirmed Line-Up for January and February

The series will kick off on Friday, January 16, with Rich Dickinson's Driving Force. The schedule for the coming weeks is as follows:

  • January 23: Jamie Thyer & The Worried Men
  • January 30: Slide Boy Roy
  • February 6: The Shufflepack
  • February 13: Honeyboy Hickling Blues Band
  • February 20: The Shakedown Brothers
  • February 27: Chickenbone Blues Band

This new weekly attraction promises to transform the trading space into a lively weekend destination, blending retail, dining, and a rich slice of British music history.
