The Loose Women star has been labelled an "absolute weapon" as she has been invited to participate in the Soccer Aid fixture. The annual celebrity charity match is set to return in just a few days, with England facing the World XI to raise funds for UNICEF.
Soccer Aid Returns for 20th Anniversary
The star-studded football spectacle, marking its 20th anniversary, was established by music legend and former Take That member Robbie Williams along with TV presenter Jonathan Wilkes, debuting in 2006. Over the past two decades, Soccer Aid has generated more than £121 million for UNICEF's work with children and families around the world. UNICEF operates with local partners, communities, and governments to support children and families in the most challenging circumstances.
GK Barry Wants Denise Welch on the Pitch
Among the many celebrities stepping onto the pitch is influencer and Loose Women star GK Barry. The social media personality disclosed that she would love to play alongside fellow panellist Denise Welch because she would be an "absolute weapon" on the pitch. She added: "She'd be elbowing people out the way, she'd be giving it. I just think it would be iconic. She wouldn't take any messing. I hope she's on my team."
Discussing what Soccer Aid for UNICEF means to her, GK said: "I think it's such an amazing charity. I didn't really realise how much UNICEF does until I got asked to do Soccer Aid and I read into it. I think it's absolutely incredible. Soccer Aid is so much fun to watch." She continued: "I think it's such a good atmosphere for the people in the stadium and it raises so much money. It's important to support children. I think the whole thing's incredible. It also appeals to everyone; the people watching are such a wide range of ages, which is really important too."
Other Celebrities Involved
Radio presenter Jordan North has admitted he is thrilled to be lining up alongside England's all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney, while warning fellow celebrities to keep a close eye on former footballer Jill Scott, who he claims "takes no prisoners." Meanwhile, former Love Island star Chloe Burrows looks set to be a surprise package, boasting a footballing background that few are aware of. The presenter revealed she was a semi-professional player at just 15 years old. Reigning King of the Jungle, Angry Ginge, described his involvement in the Soccer Aid for UNICEF match as a "dream come true," adding that being selected "means a lot" to him.
Soccer Aid 2026 will air on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player on Sunday, May 31 at 5pm, with kick-off at 6.30pm BST.
