Sharon Osbourne Confirms Ozzfest Revival with Birmingham as First Stop
Sharon Osbourne has officially announced the return of the world-renowned Ozzfest music festival, with Birmingham's Villa Park Stadium set to host two dates in 2027. The matriarch of the Osbourne family revealed the exciting news during a discussion with her son Jack on their official podcast, emphasizing her desire to stay active and creative.
Inspired by Past Success and Future Ambitions
The announcement comes on the heels of the monumental Back To The Beginning gig, held at Villa Park Stadium in July 2025, which featured the final performances of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Sharon reflected on this historic event, noting its impact and the Grammy win for Yungblud's supergroup performance of Changes at the Birmingham show.
Sharon stated, "The time to just sit and do nothing has gone and I'm better keeping busy." When prompted by Jack about her projects, she confirmed, "Ozzfest is coming back! Now you have to plan these things two years up front, so we're looking at 2027, Aston Villa!"
Plans for Villa Park and Beyond
The initial phase of the festival's revival includes two days at Aston Villa's home ground, with subsequent plans to expand to the United States. Sharon expressed a commitment to discovering new talent, saying, "We've got to find a lot of new young talent, because that's what your dad would want." Jack added that fan input would be crucial in shaping the lineup and locations.
Ozzfest, originally created 30 years ago after Lollapalooza declined to book Ozzy Osbourne, has a storied history as a premier heavy metal event. It has showcased legendary bands such as:
- Black Sabbath
- Slipknot
- Slayer
- Pantera
- Machine Head
The festival last took place on New Year's Eve 2018 in California, making this announcement a significant comeback for the metal community.
Future Prospects and Fan Engagement
Sharon indicated that the success of the 2027 dates will determine whether Ozzfest continues beyond that year. "We'll see how it does," she told Jack. "And if people want it, we'll be there." This approach highlights the importance of audience support in revitalizing the festival, which has long served as an incubator for emerging heavy metal artists alongside established acts.
The return of Ozzfest to Birmingham not only celebrates the city's rich musical heritage but also promises to boost local tourism and cultural engagement. Fans eagerly await further details on lineups and ticket information as plans develop over the coming years.
