The BBC has officially announced the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe will take over the reins of the beloved dance competition starting in September 2026.
New Hosts Revealed
The news was shared on the show's Instagram page with the caption: "It's official…September 2026." This marks a new era for the series, which has been a staple of British television since 2004.
Departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman
Tess Daly, 56, and Claudia Winkleman, 54, announced their decision to step down from the show in October 2025. Daly had been a presenter since the show's inception, co-hosting with the late Sir Bruce Forsyth. Winkleman initially fronted the companion show It Takes Two before joining the main Saturday night broadcast in 2014.
Producer and BBC Executive Comments
Sarah James, executive producer for BBC Studios, expressed excitement about the new lineup: "We are absolutely thrilled to finally share this wonderful news. The combination of Emma, Josh, and Jojo was unexpected, but their magic was undeniable the moment they came together."
Kate Phillips, the BBC's chief content officer, added: "Emma, Johannes and Josh’s chemistry is undeniable. There’s been so much speculation and hype, so I’m relieved we can share the news with the public at last!"
What the New Hosts Bring
Emma Willis, known for her presenting experience on shows like The Voice UK, brings warmth and professionalism. Josh Widdicombe, a comedian, earned a score of 10 from judge Anton Du Beke during the Christmas Special. Johannes Radebe, a professional dancer on the show for eight years, adds his expertise and vibrant style.
The trio will join the judges and professional dancers to deliver what the BBC promises will be "must-see TV" this autumn. Fans can expect a fresh dynamic as the show enters its next chapter.
