The Great Birmingham Run is fast approaching, and a familiar face from BBC's The Traitors has shared his top advice for participants. Dr Amos Ogunkoya, a doctor and contestant from series one of the hit show, knows a thing or two about endurance after completing the London Marathon last year.
Three-Word Wisdom
Speaking to BirminghamLive, Dr Amos urged runners to 'enjoy the run' and take pride in their achievement. He emphasized the importance of proper fueling, saying: 'Carb load beforehand and make sure you have nutritious dense foods.'
A Lesson Learned
Dr Amos also warned against a common mistake he made before his own marathon. 'Don't change your shoes like I did the day before because that will hurt,' he advised. 'But enjoy it and just be proud of what your body can do.'
The Great Birmingham Run takes place on May 3, with thousands gathering at Centenary Square. A mini run and junior challenge are scheduled for Saturday, May 2, followed by the main 10k and half marathon events on Sunday.
The Sunday routes will wind through the Jewellery Quarter, past New Street Station, and through Digbeth, finishing at the Alexander Stadium. Participants are encouraged to prepare well and savor the experience.
