Market Field School Students Create Lifelong Memories at Wembley Concert

A group of 17 students from Market Field School in Elmstead Market recently took to the stage at the OVO Arena Wembley, participating in the Voice in a Million concert. After months of dedicated preparation, these young singers built their musical skills, confidence, teamwork, and pride, culminating in a performance before a large audience.

Celebrating Unity and Inclusion Through Music

Voice in a Million is a nationwide initiative that unites thousands of young people from across the UK to celebrate unity, belonging, and the power of collective voice. The event strongly champions inclusion and diversity, providing every child with the opportunity to shine on stage.

Wendy Brown, head of performing arts at Market Field School, which caters to children aged five to 16 with moderate learning difficulties, shared her thoughts on the experience. "Our students showed remarkable dedication as they learned their songs individually and as a group," she said. "Their excitement was infectious, singing their hearts out, dancing with freedom, and embracing the joy of performing."

A Milestone Performance for Many Students

For numerous students, this marked their first time performing in a major arena, and they rose to the occasion with courage and enthusiasm. Brown emphasized that the event was more than just a performance; it was a celebration of possibility and achievement.

By standing alongside 160 other schools, the students from Market Field demonstrated that with belief, encouragement, and opportunity, any child can accomplish something extraordinary. The school is now planning to bring the children's talents into the community and beyond, with more events, showcases, and creative opportunities on the horizon.

Future Plans and Ongoing Commitment

Market Field School is committed to ensuring its students continue to be recognised, celebrated, and given platforms to shine, both on stage and in the wider world. The performing arts and music department is already working towards entering Voice in a Million again next year, building on this successful experience.

This concert not only provided a memorable experience for the students but also highlighted the importance of inclusive arts programs in fostering confidence and community spirit among young people.
