West Midlands Schools to Launch 500+ Free Breakfast Clubs in April 2026
Free Breakfast Clubs Expand to 1,250 West Midlands Schools

Major Expansion of Free Breakfast Clubs Across West Midlands Schools

A significant expansion of the free breakfast club programme is set to transform the start of the school day for thousands of children across the West Midlands. From April 2026, when pupils return after the Easter holidays, over 500 new breakfast clubs will be launched in schools throughout the region.

Reaching More Children Than Ever Before

This ambitious initiative means that free breakfast clubs will be operating in 1,250 schools across nine regions in England, including the West Midlands and Birmingham. The programme is projected to be available to more than 300,000 children, providing them with a nutritious start to their learning day.

The clubs offer 30-minute sessions before formal lessons begin, allowing all children to enjoy a free breakfast. This approach ensures that pupils can start every school day ready to learn and focused, potentially improving educational outcomes and classroom engagement.

Practical Support for Families

For parents and guardians, the expansion of free breakfast clubs represents valuable practical support. The programme provides help with childcare at the start of the school day at no extra cost to families, easing morning routines and financial pressures for households across the region.
