Pupils at a Birmingham school experienced a truly magical day when Harry Potter star Tom Felton paid a surprise visit. The actor, best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the blockbuster film series, spent time with students at Lordswood Girls' School in Harborne, sharing insights into his acting career and inspiring the next generation.
Surprise Appearance at Lordswood Girls' School
Felton, 35, visited the school on Thursday, 23 February, as part of a series of school visits organized by the charity Into Film. The actor spoke to students about his journey from child star to Hollywood actor, offering advice on pursuing dreams and overcoming challenges.
The visit included a Q&A session where students asked Felton about his experiences on the Harry Potter set, his favorite moments, and life after the franchise. Felton also took part in a special screening of the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, with the students.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Headteacher of Lordswood Girls' School, Mrs. Sarah Smith, said: "It was an absolute privilege to welcome Tom Felton to our school. The students were over the moon to meet him and hear his stories. He was incredibly generous with his time and left a lasting impression on everyone."
Felton's visit was part of Into Film's mission to bring film and media education to young people across the UK. The charity aims to use the power of film to inspire and educate, and Felton's appearance certainly achieved that goal.
Magical Moments for Students
Student Ella, 14, said: "It was amazing to meet Tom Felton. He was so down-to-earth and funny. I've been a Harry Potter fan my whole life, so this was a dream come true." Another student, Maya, added: "He gave us really good advice about following our passions and not giving up. It was inspiring."
The visit also included a surprise for Felton, as students performed a short play based on Harry Potter scenes, much to the actor's delight. Felton praised the students' creativity and enthusiasm, calling it "one of the best school visits" he had ever experienced.

The event was covered by local media, highlighting the positive impact of celebrity visits on student morale and engagement. The school reported a significant boost in student interest in film and performing arts following the visit.
