Midlands Towns Set for 24C 'Summer Spell' as Weather Maps Turn Orange
Weather forecasting maps have turned shades of orange, indicating a significant rise in temperatures across the UK in the coming weeks. The mercury is due to climb, bringing an early spell of summer-like conditions to many regions.
Heatwave Arrives on May 4
The sunny weather is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, May 4, with parts of the West Midlands, including southern areas of Birmingham, expected to bask in highs of 24C. According to reports, this warm spell will provide a taste of summer well ahead of the traditional season.
Widespread Warmth Across the UK
Statistics reveal that as many as 74 counties across England, Scotland, and Wales will experience temperatures rising to or above 20C at the start of May. In contrast, Northern Ireland is anticipated to see slightly cooler conditions, with temperatures reaching only 19C.
The GFS weather model predicts that temperatures will begin their ascent on May 4, hitting 21C and 22C across large swathes of southern and central England. North Wales could also enjoy highs of 21C around 6pm on that day.
Peak Temperatures Expected
The heat is forecast to intensify throughout the week, with the south-east, including London, reaching 24C on May 5. A few places in Scotland might hit 20C at 6pm, while Wales could see highs of 23C.
According to the GFS model data, the warmest day will be May 6, with a maximum of 26C in and around London. The Midlands, Yorkshire, and East Anglia are all set to experience highs of 24C or 25C, with Birmingham specifically forecast to reach 24C.
However, temperatures are expected to be several notches cooler in Northern Ireland and Scotland, highlighting regional variations in the heatwave.
