Smith emphasized the crucial roles played by trustees and operational officers, along with individuals managing essential behind-the-scenes functions such as IT support and greenhouse operations. She delivered a heartfelt tribute to the gardening and litter-picking teams, who tirelessly work across Rawtenstall, Waterfoot, and Crawshawbooth in all weather conditions. Additionally, she acknowledged Rossendale Borough Council for their steadfast partnership over the past twelve months.
Celebrating a Busy 25th Jubilee Year
The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on a bustling 25th Jubilee year, which featured a celebration at the Circle Bacup and multiple prestigious awards from the Royal Horticultural Society. Notable achievements included Sparrow Park and the library gardens earning the esteemed Green Flag award for high-quality sustainability. Enhancements such as new picnic benches at Tricketts Memorial Ground and Booth Road, plus a fresh revamp of flowerbeds near Lidl on Bacup Road, were highlighted.
Fundraising and Community Engagement Initiatives
The group actively participated in the Charity Open Gardens Scheme and organized a successful garden party in Sparrow Park to raise vital funds. These efforts underscore their commitment to fostering community spirit and supporting local causes.
Exciting Future Plans and Expansion
Looking forward to 2026, the charity announced that Haslingden and Helmshore Civic Pride will merge with Civic Pride Rossendale, marking a significant expansion. Volunteers have committed to entering Britain in Bloom again, promising enhanced floral displays for the area. New projects on the horizon include transforming a section of Daisy Hill into a beautiful garden and collaborating with contractors and local councils on developments at Rawtenstall Market, Bank Street, and the Gyratory project.

During the formal agenda, Charlotte Hocking presented financial reports and the new Annual Development Plan. Attendees enjoyed a nostalgic video from 2003, showcasing the area's transformation over 23 years. The evening concluded with a traditional pie and pea supper for all participants.
