Sainsbury's is launching a generous referral initiative that could see its customers pocket up to £1,500 worth of vouchers in a single year. The supermarket giant is rewarding members of its Sainsbury's Energy scheme for encouraging friends and family to switch their supply.
How the Referral Rewards Work
Existing Sainsbury's Energy customers are invited to join the 'Refer a Friend' programme. Once enrolled, they receive a unique referral link to share. For every person who signs up for Sainsbury's Energy using that link and pays their first Direct Debit, both the referrer and the new customer get a £30 voucher. These vouchers are valid at a wide selection of more than 100 high street retailers.
The rewards are not limited to a single voucher. Savvy participants can accumulate multiple £30 rewards, with the supermarket confirming a potential annual maximum of £1,500. However, to ensure fairness, Sainsbury's has implemented daily and annual caps. Customers cannot receive more than five rewards in any 24-hour period or more than 25 rewards within a 12-month period.
Claiming Your Voucher or Credit
The reward process is straightforward. Approximately one month after a referred friend's energy supply goes live and their first Direct Debit is successful, the vouchers are issued. The £30 reward is typically sent via email as a high street code, which is valid for one year.
For those who prefer, Sainsbury's offers an alternative: the reward value can be credited directly to the referrer's Energy account instead. The supermarket reserves the right to determine the method of reward delivery, which will be specified in the scheme's marketing materials.
Additional Perks for Sainsbury's Energy Customers
Beyond the lucrative referral scheme, being a Sainsbury's Energy customer comes with other benefits. The grocer has highlighted that members can also enjoy various discounts and have the opportunity to earn up to triple Nectar points on their shopping, adding further value to the partnership.
Once a new customer switches their energy supply, they too can immediately participate in the referral scheme as a referrer, generating their own unique link to start earning rewards. This creates a cycle of potential savings and vouchers for participants engaged with Sainsbury's Energy offering.
