In a disturbing act of animal cruelty, five cats were violently thrown from a moving van in Crewe, leaving the felines injured and traumatised.
Witness Describes Horrific Scene
A dog walker witnessed the shocking incident at 4:30am on Tuesday 25th November on Ford Lane in Crewe. The witness saw a white van with a black roof rack skid to a halt before a dog crate was hurled from the vehicle.
Upon investigation, the shocked discoverer found five cats confined inside the crate, including a mother cat and her two young kittens. The animals were sitting in their own faeces with no bedding for comfort or warmth.
RSPCA Launches Investigation
The RSPCA has launched a full investigation into what Inspector Caren Goodman described as a "horrific" act of cruelty. "To throw cats, including kittens that are so young, out into the cold at this time of year is a horrific thing to do," Inspector Goodman stated.
All five cats are microchipped, but authorities report that the chips contain no current owner details. The mother cat and her kittens remain under veterinary care, with the young cats requiring treatment for conjunctivitis.
Appeal for Information
The animal welfare charity is urgently appealing for anyone with information about the incident or the cats' owners to come forward. Inspector Goodman emphasised that "these are very domesticated cats, they are not feral" and were likely transported with the intention of abandonment.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is asked to contact the RSPCA appeals line on 0300 123 8018, quoting reference number 0168496.
