Katie Price's husband, Lee Andrews, could be required to pay over £100,000 to secure his release from a Dubai prison. The businessman has been held since his arrest last month after failing to appear on the daytime television programme Good Morning Britain alongside his wife.
The ITV show later confirmed that the Foreign Office had reported Andrews, a British national, had been detained in Dubai, where he resides. Initially, Katie denied the detention, and days later claimed her husband had been kidnapped, alleging his hands were tied and a hood placed over his head. However, she subsequently confirmed he was behind bars.
According to reports from the Mirror, the original suspicion of espionage was later clarified as a private civil matter. Earlier claims suggested Lee could have been released for a four-figure sum, but it has now emerged the amount is six figures, exceeding £100,000.
A source told The Sun: 'Katie is desperately trying to get Lee out of prison. Despite everything that's gone on, Lee is her husband, and Katie wants to get him out and get the answers she so badly needs.' The source added that Katie has visited the prison multiple times to sort paperwork for his release, but any release will not be straightforward, and even if the cash is found, processing could take weeks.
Today, Katie explained to fans she was visiting courts, the prison, and a police station, but not to see her husband. She shared a video on Facebook, saying: 'Today, even though it's about 40 degrees outside, the places I've got to go today, you have to cover up hence the leggings, hence the jacket.' She noted she had to go to courts, prison, and a police station, but not a visiting prison.
Yesterday, the former glamour model and a videographer flew to Dubai, where she last saw Andrews. Price shocked fans in January when she became engaged to Andrews hours after meeting him in person, and married him two days later. After Lee vanished last month, Katie was worried, but later contacted him via a phone call arranged by his father, Peter, who lives in the UAE. She said: 'I have found him – he is alive, and he is okay. I told him how worried I had been and told him I loved him. It was very rushed, but he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy. I don't know much more than that right now.'
