Prestbury Beaumont Care Home Hosts Grand 102nd Birthday Celebration for Resident Margaret Harrison
The halls of Prestbury Beaumont care home were alive with music and joy this week as resident Margaret Harrison celebrated her remarkable 102nd birthday. Staff and residents went above and beyond to ensure the former professional ballroom dancer marked this incredible milestone in true style, creating a memorable event filled with heartfelt moments.
Heartwarming Card Appeal and Surprise Visits
A heartwarming card appeal launched by the home resulted in over 150 birthday wishes arriving from across the country and as far away as Australia, showcasing the widespread affection for Margaret. The celebrations kicked off with a sparkling champagne reception shared with family, friends, and fellow residents, setting a festive tone for the day.
Margaret received a special surprise visit from the Mayor of Bollington, Councillor Jon Weston, who dropped by to offer his personal congratulations to the birthday girl. Additionally, one of the most touching moments was a visit from Margaret’s great-grandson, the very newest addition to her family tree, adding a personal and emotional touch to the festivities.
Glittering Career and Custom Delights
Margaret is well-known in the home for her glittering career as a championship dancer, with her room proudly displaying many of her hard-earned trophies. She only recently hung up her dancing shoes after a lifetime of performing and famously kept her flexibility well into her 90s, inspiring all around her.
The home’s talented head chef, Nicky, whipped up a magnificent bespoke cake to match the magnitude of the day, ensuring the culinary aspect of the celebration was as special as the guest of honor. Margaret donned a tiara and faux fur for the occasion, embracing the glamour of her past while enjoying the company of loved ones.
Community Support and Manager's Delight
Sophie Kay, General Manager of Prestbury Beaumont Care Home, was delighted with the turnout for such a remarkable member of the community. She expressed her gratitude, stating, “This was such a very special day for a truly remarkable lady, we want to thank everyone who came together to help us mark Margaret’s 102nd birthday – her display of birthday cards is just fantastic to see.”
