Free Middlesbrough Event Supports Adults with Learning Disabilities & Autism
Middlesbrough Support Event for Adults with Disabilities

A free event designed to support adults with learning disabilities and autism is set to take place in Middlesbrough next week, offering a vital connection to local services and a platform for community feedback.

Our Place, Our Say: A Day of Support and Connection

The 'Our Place, Our Say' showcase will bring together a wide array of health, care, and community groups under one roof. This event provides a unique opportunity for individuals and their families to learn about the help available to them directly from the source.

Organised by Skills for People with support from Middlesbrough Council, the day is about more than just information. The charity works tirelessly to ensure people with disabilities and their families are fully included in their local communities, and this event is a key part of that mission.

Fun, Food, and Lively Entertainment

Beyond the informational stalls, attendees can look forward to a vibrant atmosphere. The event will feature live music from local theatre and choir groups, adding a celebratory feel to the day.

There will also be various crafts and fun activities to participate in, ensuring the event is engaging for everyone. To keep energy levels high, free refreshments will be available throughout the day, with lunch served between 12pm and 2pm.

Official Support and Community Impact

Councillor Julia Rostron, Middlesbrough Council’s executive member for adult social care, expressed her enthusiasm for the event. She highlighted its proven popularity in other parts of the region and its valuable mix of practical advice and entertainment.

"I hope that everyone who attends will be able to find out something new or perhaps have a conversation that helps them in their everyday life," said Cllr Rostron, underscoring the event's potential for making a tangible difference.

The event will run from 10am until 4pm on November 18 at the central location of Middlesbrough Town Hall. This free gathering promises to be an invaluable resource for strengthening support networks and enhancing inclusion within the town.
