Codsall Carer Skydives for Alzheimer's Society

A dedicated carer from Codsall has taken on a thrilling 10,000ft skydive to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society, inspired by the profound impact dementia has on families. Lizzie Bradley, who works at Bilbrook Rose care home in Codsall, completed the adrenaline-filled jump to support individuals living with dementia and those caring for loved ones with the condition.

The challenge raised an impressive £635 for Alzheimer’s Society, with generous donations from colleagues, friends, family, and supporters in the local community. For Lizzie, the skydive was a bold way to contribute to a cause deeply connected to her role in care. She said: “It was an incredible experience and definitely something I will never forget. I wanted to do something that would really push me out of my comfort zone, while raising money for a cause that means so much to so many families.”

She added: “Working in care, we see first-hand how dementia can affect not only the person living with it, but also their loved ones. Alzheimer’s Society does such important work, so I’m really grateful to everyone who donated and supported me.”

The fundraising effort has also generated excitement back at Bilbrook Rose, where footage of Lizzie’s jump will be shown to residents in the home’s onsite cinema. This screening will give residents and team members the chance to share in the moment, making Lizzie’s challenge a talking point across the home.

Bhav Amlani, Director of Macc Care, which operates Bilbrook Rose, said: “We are incredibly proud of Lizzie for taking on such a brave challenge for Alzheimer’s Society. It is a cause that means a great deal to so many people connected to care, and her fundraising is a brilliant example of the compassion and community spirit shown by our team.” He added: “We’re also looking forward to sharing the footage with residents, who we know will enjoy celebrating Lizzie’s achievement with her.”

Bilbrook Rose is a care home in Codsall, near Wolverhampton, providing residential, nursing, dementia, and respite care for older people.
